1. The Red Seat
The seat in the right field bleachers is painted red to mark the spot where the longest measurable home run ever hit inside Fenway Park landed. Ted Williams hit the home run on June 9, 1946 off Fred Hutchinson of the Detroit Tigers. The blast was measured at 502 feet. Legend says that the ball crashed through the straw hat of the man sitting in the seat — Section 42, Row 37, Seat 21.

4. The Red Seat
Back in 1946, one of the great (if not the greatest) Red Sox players to ever put on the uniform accomplished a feet of mythic proportions. Ted Williams (that’s his number 9 up on the balcony facade) launched a pitch 502 feet for the longest home run ever hit into the right field bleachers. The seat was painted red and sits among a sea of green to commemorate the feat and give fans a very visible reminder of the greatness that has been on display at Fenway all these years.
