Man-Hug
Started in 2002 by Carlos Baerga, the man-hug mania really kicked up once Kevin Millar joined the team in 2003.
Man-hugs happen between players for good plays, bad plays, home runs, strike outs, as a way to say ‘hello’, as a way to say ‘good bye’...pretty much for any situation during the game.
In 2004 man-hugs also took over Fenway Park between members of Red Sox Nation, and to this day you can spot the man-hugs in the stands during especially exciting games, or any game where the Sox beat the MFY.
Jerry Remy is on the record as being vehemently against the man-hug.
