Cronin, Joe
Hall-of-Fame shortstop with career .301 batting average from 1926 to 1945. Spent the last 11 years of his playing career as player-manager of the Red Sox and continued managing through 1947. He then moved into the GM spot, and later became AL president, the first former player to hold that post. His number 4 was retired by the Red Sox.
